About
My name is Chelsea Bellomy and I am a a Sociology major and International Studies minor at Wake Forest University. I am passionate about traveling, global affairs, and photography. This website is a representation of my study abroad experience in Venice, Italy. It tracks the evolution of my understanding of citizenship from a national and territorial sense to transnational and cosmopolitan. My perceptions of the responsibilities embodied in citizenship have grown exponentially through my studies, and along with this new transnational understanding of citizenship I have assumed the responsibility that as a citizen with agency, to fully adopt a transnational mindset I must stand up and take action in what I believe in to make the world a better place. The goal of my academic career has been to learn the world; to understand its geographies, its political, economic, and ethnic cultures, to know its regions and cities. To really understand it, and then to do what I can, to help it, to change it in the small way that an individual can. My study abroad experience in Italy has been the beginnings of this quest to learn the world and has increased my desire to pursue an education of global affairs.
